I thought I had too much going on before, but now that my first
book has been released, I have so much more on the go. I feel like I actually
have a bit more of a drive to achieve things and see them through until the end
at last though, which is great. It’s because I know that I can do it now,
I’ve done it already with Found so why not with Scarecrows, Planet 7A-Pink or
the Christmas story that is my current work in progress?
I have to say that the marketing and social media element of Found has been
quite overwhelming if I’m honest. There’s a lot to do and maintain. I didn’t
even have Twitter (@akjohns_author) before and I set up the wrong thing when I
started on Facebook (A.K. Johns – Author). Instagram (@akjohns _author) seems
to be the only one I’ve got right so far and I’m already running out of things
to say. Please contact me if there is anything you want to ask or something in
particular that you would like me to share. I am easily contactable
and happy to talk to you all. It will be me that responds, as I am
not big enough to have an entourage working for me yet.
I am also trying to find a publishing agent to represent Scarecrows and the
works that are produced after that. I believe Scarecrows is ready to go and
would be as well received as Found has been so far. It is another romance, but
this time it is set on a farm, where Mark has arrived with the intention of
learning the job in order to give his book some more realistic detail. There he
meets Harry, the oldest brother and the farms main contributor, but he also
meets the youngest brother, Billy-Dee, who is an uber-fan and extremely cute.
Alongside the brothers the rest of the family are a pleasure to be with and
Mark starts to question his life in the big city with his best friend Julian,
who has also been a bit clingy lately. If only Mark could get some words on the
screen where the cursor blinks at him teasingly, without being so distracted by
Harry’s butt and Billy’s piercing eyes.
Following that story, but not connected to it, will be a currently untitled
Christmas story which focuses on Luke and the changes he faces in his life when
he returns to his hometown for the season and re-thinks everything he has ever
known. The struggling photographer is supported by his family, but ends up in a
job at a bar that is made tough by a mean boss and he still has people from his
city life interfering with his attempts to move on.
The life of a writer is never easy and constantly full of new ideas that have
to be put on the page as soon as they come. This is why I am also working on a
fourth book called Planet 7A-Pink, (for the moment at least) an idea which came
to me in the middle of a pause between chapters of “Christmas” and which has
flowed so organically since that it’s hard to turn it off and focus only on
Luke’s story. It is a science fiction romance set on the spaceship Shakespeare
to start with and follows Malhern and Joshalyn’s hardships as they are stranded
on a pink planet. It may sound similar to Found, but in actual fact it’s a very
different set up.
So, as you can see, there is a lot going on and that doesn’t even include my
attempt to set up a film review website and my own work as a supporting artist
in the film and TV industry. That is why you may find that I don’t blog often,
but they will always be honest and come directly from my own mind.
